Mountain Wedding: What You Need to Plan For

Mountain Wedding Ideas

Are you thinking about having your wedding in the mountains?  A truly beautiful, spectacular location, no doubt, but one that requires additional considerations you may not have thought of.  Keep reading to learn more.

What Venue to Use

A barn, a building with wood paneling, or anything that feels like a mountain lodge, would all be excellent venue choices for a mountain themed wedding.  Just be sure to keep your budget in mind.  You don’t want to fall in love with a location you can’t afford.

Help Guests Find the Venue

After settling on the location, make sure guests can find it.  GPS services might not work in certain mountain areas, so you should include directions to the venue in the invitations.

If able, provide guests with transportation up and down the mountain.  This will make it possible for guests who are nervous about driving the winding mountain roads to attend your wedding in peace.

Dealing with the Weather

Mountain weather is unpredictable so it’s wise to have a backup plan. Determine ahead of time how to notify the wedding party, vendors and guests if you do need to change plans at the last minute.

The mountain winds might blow your tablecloths and decor away if you don’t get them properly secured.  You can use table weights and choose a location that shields everything (including the guests!) from the wind.

Remember to warn guests about the cool mountain temperatures, although they won’t all pay attention to your warning.  Prepare for this by setting blankets on the chairs and providing the guests with mittens, hats, and scarves.

Serving hot chocolate is a fun and tasty way to help guests stay warm. When you think about it, this comforting, warm beverage goes perfectly with a mountain-themed wedding!

Extra Costs

Catering and other wedding services typically cost more for mountain weddings, due to the remote locations of these events.  Make sure these costs can be covered before going too far with your wedding plans.

Mountain Wedding Favors

Give Guests Something to Remember the Big Day

No wedding would be complete without fun favors that help guests remember the day with fondness.  It’s even better if you can give them a gift that matches the theme of the wedding.  They will be impressed by your ability to coordinate the details.
